Education Week Parents, planning is in full swing for our Education Week celebrations next week. Open Day is on Thursday, 5th August. I hope that lots of parents have the opportunity to come along and join us. More information about the day is included in the newsletter. Newsletters can be accessed in the News & Events section of this website. The Ned Show In today's newsletter you will notice an information flyer about The NED Show. This is an American production that tours Australia once a year. The basic message of the show is; Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. This message is put across to the students in a high energy and engaging way. Principal colleages who have had the show at their school tell me that the children find the show very enjoyable and engaging. I feel that the message that is being put across is a good fit with our school values. There is no cost for the show. As part of having the show for free we have agreed to have Yo-Yos available for sale. (Yo-Yo tricks are a part of the show.) Further information about the sale of the Yo-Yos will be sent out later in the week. Car Park Parents, after discussions with the Department of Education and Training, maintenance staff and the P&C, we have determined that the best time to remediate the car park area where asbestos in the form of old fibro has been found is during the December break. The job will take about 4 weeks. The car park is being monitored every 3 or 4 weeks by a team specialising in dealing with asbestos. At the last assessment no asbestos was found and on every occasion air quality has been excellent. If, as a result of the monitoring, the site is no longer deemed safe, the DET will start work on the car park as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about this, please do not hesitate to contact me. Apology Parents, unfortunately we were somewhat ambitious in regard to how much we could get through in our assembly yesterday. We expected to hand out athletics carnival ribbons. These will be presented next week. Have a great week. Peter Robinson Principal 27th July 2010 |
